How to Get Started in Woodworking

I’ve heard a lot of stories about how people get started in woodworking.

You know the story, "Grandpa….Dad….Uncle Jim was a woodworker…. cabinetmaker….handyman and when he passed away, I got his tools."

Others got started because they wanted to be like Norm Abram.

For most of us though, we just needed a hobby, or we had a desire to be creative, or we simply wanted a new set of kitchen cabinets!

August Home Publishing VP Doug Hicks has his own take on getting started in woodworking. If you’re interested in learning about it, you’ll want to attend the first seminar of the 2005 fall season this Thursday, Sept. 29th starting at 6:30pm at the Woodsmith Store in Des Moines.  This first one is free.
