Doug Hicks, Executive Editor, Woodsmith, ShopNotes, and Workbench Magazines
Doug had a hard time paring his list to just five techniques (he originally came up with 13), but in the interests of time, he’ll use a table saw, jointer and a router (both in a table and hand-held) to demonstrate his surprising discoveries.

Ready for a kitchen remodel complete with all-new cabinets? Finally building that entertainment center? Or are you just wondering how to cut a sheet of plywood down to size on your table saw? Then this seminar is for you.
There is no doubt that working with plywood can be a challenge. According to Dave Stone, a full sheet of 3/4″ hardwood plywood can weigh anywhere from 60 to 100 pounds. And the last thing you want to do is drop it on a corner or have excessive chip out when you cut a piece down to size.
Phil Huber, Senior Editor, Woodsmith and ShopNotes Magazines
Phil will demonstrate a couple of different ways to build drawers using a specialized drawer joint bit. Time permitting, he’ll also give us a look at how to build a drawer using just a straight bit.

In the past, when I start planning the subject matter for the seminars, I’ve often approached Erich Lage with an idea for a seminar that I think is perfectly suited to his skills. His response is usually “…let me give it some thought. I think I can come up with something better.” That’s why his seminars often veer off into uncharted territory. But I like that because I think he brings a fresh outlook to the seminars.
Erich is a senior illustrator with Workbench magazine, and his interests are home improvement and fixing things up. His woodworking skills lean toward building cabinets, including the style that he’ll be demonstrating this week during his seminar. “Trim Cabinet Basics” is all about building cabinets for your shop using basic materials, simple joinery, and most of the same tools that your average D-I-Yer would own.
